The demanding drilling operations on various types of offshore drilling rigs require ropes with high breaking load, extreme wear resistance, and excellent spooling behaviour. For continuous rope lengths up to 4,500 meters, a continuous precise manufacturing process is needed in order to provide consistent quality. The less one needs to slip&cut Teufelberger-Redaelli's high performance steel wire ropes for drilling applications, the more profitable drilling rig operators can work, while also minimizing the safety risk on the platforms.

For these highly challenging applications on drilling rigs, Teufelberger-Redaelli delivers full compacted, 6-strand high performance steel wire ropes that include plastic impregnated PLASTFILL® steel core and are used successfully on drilling systems of National Oilwell and MH Wirth (Aker). 

For specific applications, Teufelberger-Redaelli also offers special fully compacted 8-strand ropes that, under certain conditions, take the operator’s profitability to an even higher level. Teufelberger-Redaelli can spool its high performance steel wire ropes directly onto special steel reels that are required for some of these applications. These supplied special reels are ready to be installed into the relevant system right away without respooling.
